Even if it’s weapons or motorbikes or underwater sequences, I love being challenged and trying out and understanding the equipment that I need to wear and use for a certain scene. I kind of like everything in a film like this, a “Mission” film.
Do you ever miss being armed? Or do you ever wish you could pull out your stunts in everyday life? I don’t know if he got impressed by me, but it’s more moves that I did that he didn’t do but he’d see them. I think it was more the realization of the that we could both maintain for eight months. Basically, we were working so many hours a day that when we wrapped it was like home, home, sleep, go to the gym again. Sadly enough, there was no time really to do off-set things. There was nothing when it came to stunts that I could show him. That’s a new one! For me to basically tell Tom, “I’ll show you”? God, I wish I had a yes to that question. I was curious if there was ever a day on set when you got to say, “Oh, no, Tom. There’s been a lot of talk about you doing your own stunts and being inspired by Tom Cruise and learning from him.

The 31-year-old might be new to the blockbuster scene, but she’s hardly a novice when it comes to acting-she already has a Golden Globe nomination under her belt for her 2013 performance as Elizabeth Woodville in TV miniseries “The White Queen.” Jumping from 15th-century England to an action film might trigger major whiplash, but that’s just the way Ferguson likes it. She plays double- (or maybe triple-) agent Ilsa with steely determination and eyes that give nothing away. In “Rogue Nation,” opening Friday, Ferguson stars as Ilsa Faust, the mysterious counterpart to international crime-stopper Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), finally providing us with a female action hero who actually removes her heels before kicking ass.
